How to update the System Program by floppy disk.

ATTENTION: upgrading to Version 2.0 will cause all memory data contained in the internal memory to be deleted. Therefore we suggest you save all your own "User Programs" and "Midi Sets&" on the ZIP disk before upgrading the software version.

First, please download and unzip the files.
Prepare two Floppy Disks and name them Disk 1 and Disk 2.
In Disk 1, please copy the system update program file called : va7_02xx.sy1
And in Disk 2, please copy the files called : va7_02xx.sy2 and vp1_1xx.bin

Insert the floppy Disk 1 containing the system Program into the FDD.
Turn the instrument ON while keeping the [PIANO]+[ONE TOUCH]+[INTRO] buttons pressed.
The display shows:

*** SYSTEM MENU ***

BANK 1: SYSTEM VERSION
BANK 2: SYSTEM LOAD
BANK 3: SYSTEM SAVE


Choose the option "SYSTEM LOAD" in the MENU, by pressing the [BANK 2] button.
The display shows:

*** SYSTEM LOAD ***

NUMBER 1: CONTINUE
NUMBER 2: EXIT


Choose the option "CONTINUE" in the MENU, by pressing the [NUMBER 1] button.
The display shows “Program Loading… VA7_ 0200”

After a few seconds the display of VA-7 shows:
“Insert the SYSTEM DISK #2, please….

Insert the DISK 2 and after a few seconds the display shows:

*** SYSTEM LOAD ***

Program Loading… COMPLETED
Program Checking… COMPLETED
Flash Updating… COMPLETED
<< TURN INSTRUMENT ON AGAIN >>


If the loading operation has been completed, the display will show:
"COMPLETED".
Now you have to turn the instrument OFF and then ON again.
On the Power ON the display of VA-7 requires the PITCH BENDER and the TOUCH SCREEN to be
calibrated.
Ensure you accurately execute all the instructions that appear on the display, in order to carry
out the correct calibration procedure.

PITCH BENDER CALIBRATION:

*** PITCH BENDER CALIBRATION ***

CENTER POSITION
Then Press MFX ON/OFF Key


*** PITCH BENDER CALIBRATION ***
LEFT POSITION
Then Press MFX ON/OFF Key


*** PITCH BENDER CALIBRATION ***
RIGHT POSITION
Then Press MFX ON/OFF Key

NOTICE: while keeping the Bender lever in
the pointed-out position, press the M-FX
button.
 TOUCH SCREEN CALIBRATION:
***TOUCH SCREEN CALIBRATION***

By using a rounded pointer, press the centre
of the cross close to the "Press this point" message and hold it as long as the "Next Point" message appears.
Do the same actions for all the other cross points.
In the end "CALIBRATION OK" will appear on the centre of the display.
If this procedure has not been carried out properly, VA-7 will ask you to carry out the calibration procedure again.


Once you’ve calibrated the Pitch Bender and the Touch Screen, you have to go on and update
the Variphrase software.
You can update the Variphrase Program by using the DISK 2.
Turn your VA-7 ON while pressing the [BACKGROUND]+[MELODIC]+[RHYTHMIC] buttons of the
Variphrase section.
The display shows:

*** VARIPHRASE FUNCTION MENU ***
1 UPDATE VERSION BY FLOPPY DISK
2 THRU MODE

Version: xx.xx


NOTICE: If the version showed in the bottom of the display is "01.xx" you have already
updated the Variphrase software.

Select the [1 UPDATE VERSION] button on the touch screen.
Wait until the update is finished, then power OFF and ON the instrument again.
Load either your User Program and Midi Set or the Factory User Program and Midi Set from ZIP disk.
