Guitar Groove of the Month - March 2006 Hello everybody, this month I would like to study with you another easy combination between Single Notes and Strumming. Are you ready? So let's start! Presumably you have already installed the OS Version 2 into your G-70. So let’s switch on the Guitar Mode by simultaneously pressing the Piano and the Arranger button in the Keyboard Mode field on the Panel of the G-70. This will transform the G-70 into a Guitar with a Keyboard Action. On the display you will now see 3 Zones on the Keyboard.
- The left Zone is for playing the chords with your left hand. (Exactly like you have always done it). - In the middle Zone you will be able to play pickings with the 6 guitar strings by just playing on the keyboard. Please play any order of notes from C – A (the Octave underneath the Drawbars) and the G-70 will sort them out in accordance to the chord that you have played with your left hand. - In the right zone (one Octave higher from C – C - F) you will be able to play many different types of guitar strummings and articulations, again in accordance with the chords that you have played on the left side. Please try the different notes on the right side and have a listen to the musical result.
Today we will study another easy combination between Single Notes and Strumming. This combination can be used for an easy Guitar Accompaniment, or a rubato type of feeling. When the chord symbols changes we will always first play a Strumming. After that we will play Single Notes. This will establish the Chord immediately because all the 6 Strings will play. After that we can play Single Notes in basically an order until the next Chord Change.

As a reference you can also listen to an Audio Recording of this Guitar Groove: After you have made yourself familiar with the feeling of this Guitar Groove we will start playing different chords on the left side of the Keyboard. Off course you can play any Chord Progression. But perhaps you would like to try the chord progression that you can read in the following score:
As a reference you can also listen to an Audio Recording of this Guitar Groove: Off course you can always change the sounds for the Guitar or the Settings in the Options Menu. Also, you can record this Guitar Groove in the 16-Track Sequencer or in the Style Composer. Please refer to Tips & Tricks Vol. 3 on this Site. I hope you enjoy playing with the new Guitar Mode and the new possibilities in the G-70. Yours Sincerely Ralf Schink, March 2006
